Before:
This property already had a beautiful retaining wall garden that was largely made up of
ornamental shrubs, trees, and flowers. This existing garden took up most of the backyard space
and did not allow for much more space to add new raised beds.

We would need to get creative to find a way to install our raised beds specifically for growing
food in a way that would not overcrowd the yard while allowing for proper sunlight, ease of
accessibility and maximum growth potential.

Action:
After taking all the proper measurements and running through various scenarios we identified the
perfect way to help our wonderful clients achieve their goals to start growing food at their own
home and eating the garden fresh food regularly.

The area where we would install new raised beds had some hardscape (stone and rock
landscaping), potted ornamental plants, some bushes and trees growing in the ground. We would
need to carefully clear out and properly level these areas to set up the new raised bed garden for
many years of abundant harvest!

We permanently sealed the existing irrigation lines that were left in the area. We installed a high
quality weed barrier to prevent future weeds.
Next we would install two of our Large Raised Beds (3x7x36) and four of our Small Raised
Beds (2x2x20.25) and two of our custom Garden Arches.

With our Turnkey package these raised beds and garden arches were hand built with naturally rot
and mite resistant redwood, delivered, installed, filled with the proper organic soil, automatic
irrigation installed, plants installed, and our greenhouse raised beds covers.

We typically bring in a smooth pea gravel for the environment of the raised bed gardens that we
install, but for this garden because of its unique scene and small space, we worked with the
existing rocks in the area. We used the existing rocks and pavers to help make the newly installed
raised beds look as though they had been there all along. This allowed for our customers to
maintain the landscape look that they’ve long appreciated while providing the garden that they
desired.

We planted the large raised bed gardens with; Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Okra, Green Bell
Peppers, Lima Beans, Bush Beans, Italian Basil, Rosemary, Tree Collards, Swiss Chard, Green
Curly Kale, Catalina Spinach, Sage, Arugula, Green Mustard Greens, and Summer Lettuce.

We planted one set of small raised bed gardens and garden arch with; Cherry Tomatoes vining
along the arch and Roma Tomatoes and Beefsteak Tomatoes growing on the outer side of the
raised beds.

We planted the other set of small raised bed Gardens and garden arch with Traditional and
Armenian Cucumbers growing along the arch and Dino Kale growing on the outer sides of the
raised beds.

This garden was set to help produce large harvests of some of the fresh foods that the home
owners enjoy most!
